Hi, When you open a device, CiscoView queries the following system objects: sysObjectID.0 (system.2.0) and sysUpTime.0. If it encounters any error on this query, it throws 'Internal Error'. It can be due to bad community string stored in RME or some SNMP views configured on device. This can be confirmed by checking the SNMP trace. So, please send the SNMP trace to firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, please check if you are able to launch CV directly i.e. Without going through RME and try IP address of device instead of hostname.

Hi, I checked for RME supported devices and found that CAT 2960 PoE (WS-C2960-24PC-L)switch is not supported. Is there a way or update that I could install so that RME would recognize this device? I am trying to view some Catalyst 4006's (we have package version 4.2(1.2) installed). I cannot even open the switch. Normally, when I mouse over a device, I get the name or IP address with the device type in parentheses (like switch1(C6509)). For this switch I am getting the IP address and what looks like a VLAN name instead of the device type.
As a result, Ciscoview doesn't seem to know how to open the device. I am not qualified to reconfigure the switch, the extent of my Ciscoview use is to enable/disable ports and occasionally monitor errors realtime. Is there something I should suggest to the people who DO configuration that would fix this problem? I'm not sure what version of LMS you're running, but if 2.6 and you see this problem, you might want to open a TAC case as there is a bug (CSCsg47200) that you could possibly be hitting, and it will take a sniffer trace to confirm--which I wouldn't advise posting here. Be sure to mention the bug id in your problem description as a possible cause. Aer you getting any error on inventory collection of these devices? Can you try enabling debugs for inventory collection: RME - Admin - System Preferences - Loglevel Settings Select ICServer and set all 3 drop downs to Debug Then apply the change Now go and select 1 or 2 of the problem devices and manually attempt an inventory collection. Campus Manager doesn't have any Device Types associated with it. Should it have? I noticed that there are packages available for download in the software centere but not for Campus Manager 4.0.6, just for 4.0.5. Original problem is that I don't see 7513 routers in my topology maps. With a new upgrade you will not see device packages in all of the elements of LMS. Only CiscoView and RME will have Device Type Counts. This is normal.
The reason that I wasn't seeing the 7513s was due to incorrect SNMP information. All devices must have the correct SNMP RO strings entered into the Campus Manager administration - SNMP window, using the add button. You double click the devices discovered to see whether the devices show up as reachable. Unreachable devices need to have the community strings checked. You can go ahead with the latest version (1-26) and not the older one (1-18) you cited above. This needing to manually find and download the various dependencies is why I noted above that it is much easier to update directly via the GUI. Also, please confirm that you have done the steps I mentioned earlier with respect to DCR and device discovery as noted in the User Guide.
If that is not done, you will not be able to use CiscoView on those devices no mater what package you load. When I bring up device center and select a device, the 'managing Applications' does not show 'Campus Manager' and the related links in the reports column below are missing. Tried reregistering Campus Manager and regestering the apps with ACS with subsiquent restarting of the services and no impact. Any suggestions or troubleshooting paths to follow?

Hi there, A few weeks ago I noticed that our 7206VXR routers could not be managed from Ciscoworks (devices were greyed out). This was no problem before. When I tried to reinstall (or even remove) the necessary device packages as part of my troubleshooting process it would fail. At one point I tried to remove all device packages for Ciscoview and RME. This succeeded for Ciscoview, but still failed for RME.
I was able to reinstall device packages for Ciscoview, but RME is still a problem. Now there are even more device types in my network that I can NOT manage anymore. In the attached screenshot you can see that there are more device packages installed under RME than that is possible (I assume this many device packages even don't exist). Before these problems the numbers were equal for Ciscoview and RME. When I use 'psucli' commandline tool to remove all device packages under RME I eventually get an errormessage about a Java OutOfMemoryException and nothing has happened to the administration. I also have tried a database reinitialization procedure for RME, but this doesn't help.
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated. Maybe there's a way to manually clear the device package administration? I haven't find it yet. Also, even though I managed to install packages for Ciscoview, I cannot actually view the devices in Ciscoview (can't find applicable device package error message).
Hi, We upgraded our Cisco 3745 routers from c3745-advipservicesk9-mz.123-14.T7.bin to c3745-advipservicesk9-mz.124-7h.bin due to errors encountered when reloading the router. Problem though is that after the upgrade we cannot access the router on Ciscoview. An error would popup stating snmp version 3 error. The snmp configuration on the router was still the same and we have not changed anything under Device Credentials. The resolution that we had was to downgrade to snmp version 1 and rediscover the device. When Ciscoview is successful, we upgraded it again to version 3 and re-check Ciscoview. How come we need to downgrade to version 1 and reconfigure again version 3 in order to manage again the device?
Is this a bug on Ciscoworks LMS 3.0? Appreciate your feedback on this.
Thanks in advance. Created a local account and gave it helpdesk role but cannot view any devices in Ciscoview 6.1.5. Get the following error message: Message Failed to open device 172.17.251.5. Cause Device doesn't exist or there is problem with DNS resolution. Action Please verify the device existence and its hostname to IPAddress resolution I am able to view devices in Ciscoview with any other account that has Sys Admin role or if I change the helpdesk account to Sys Admin role.
Problem is that I cannot give the helpdesk Sys Admin rights throughout Ciscoworks. Any ideas on why this may be happening. Per the Permission report I ran, helpdesk role should have read access to Ciscoview. When OK is clicked, the application disappears. For Supervisor 720, the issue is due to the software bug, which is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCsc10956. ResolutionThe CVDM is not supported on the Supervisor 32 engine. With Supervisor 720, the workaround is to downgrade the Cisco IOS Software Release to 12.2(18)SXD3 which can be downloaded from Cisco Downloads.

CVDM and Embedded CiscoView on the 6500 were useful, and now that Cisco has dropped support for them, the only option for GUI management on a 6500 is full-blown CiscoView, which is only available as a component of full-blown CiscoWorks LMS, which comes in a minimum license quantity of 100 managed devices for $10,000. This is obviously overkill for an organization with just one or two 6500 units. To add insult to injury, rather than fix the referenced bug CSCsc10956 for the Sup720, at least, Cisco decided just to hide the bug from Bug Toolkit instead.
Cisco should either add full support for the 6500 to Cisco Network Assistant (like the 4500 series), or bring back CVDM and embedded CiscoView, IMHO (and make them work with the Sup32 while they're at it). Hello, I would like to update all CiscoView packages for my customer.

On the master switch of the stack it correctly identifies the Te interface. On the slave switches of the stack CiscoView assumes that the Ten Gb slot is not populated with a 10 Gb SFP, and shows the interface as 1 Gb interface, following the numbering sequence of the previous Gb ports. On the CiscoView fronte panel image the green status is not shown and neither the real time statistics giving 'no such instance errors' for some statistics. See the images attached.
